Arm Cuffs, A Custom Bridal Piece
This project began with a custom request from a bride who wanted something deeply personal for her wedding day. She was looking for a modern interpretation of the Imam Zamin, while still honoring its traditional meaning.
About the tradition
Imam Zamin is a traditional piece worn during weddings as a symbol of protection and blessings. It is typically tied around the arm, carrying both cultural and emotional significance.
For this piece, we chose to reinterpret the Imam Zamin through the form of calla lilies, a flower known for its elegance and simplicity.
The design was further personalized with the names of Islamic figures , written delicately in Arabic.
The making process
The process began by mapping out the design on the frame to establish the structure.
The names were embroidered first, as they required the most precision and detail.
The center (pollen) was created using a mix of embroidery thread and beads to add depth.
The inside of the flower was filled with a softer white to enhance contrast, and the ties were made from hand-dyed linen to match the piece.
The final result is a balance between tradition and modern craftsmanship, a piece designed to be both meaningful and visually refined.
When the bride received her piece, her reaction meant everything. Seeing her connect with something I created is always the most rewarding part of my work.
Each custom piece is created with intention, care, and attention to detail, designed to reflect both the person wearing it and the story behind it.
If you’re interested in creating a custom piece of your own, I’d love to hear from you.
