The hands behind Lamoureuse

Lamoureuse is the dreamworld brought to life by Zakiyyah, a universe shaped by memory, craft, and quiet devotion to beauty.

I was born and raised in Mauritius in the 1990s. Surrounded by ocean, light, and warmth, I learned early how to recognize beauty in simple things.

But in the community where I was raised, art was not seen as essential. Creativity was a hobby, something secondary to practical “serious” careers.

I still remember how happy i was to make art as a child, but as I grew older, that creative side slowly faded into the background. I chose a path that felt more reasonable, more expected.

Everything changed when I moved to Paris alone at sixteen.

For the first time, I experienced complete freedom; creative, personal, emotional. In France, craft and artisan work are deeply valued. Art lives everywhere: in streets, studios, museums, and daily life.

I immersed myself in that world. Basket weaving. Pottery. Drawing.

I wanted to try everything.

It was exciting, sometimes overwhelming, but in that exploration, I discovered what truly resonated with me, bead embroidery.

The precision. The patience. The intimacy of working by hand.

It felt natural and grounding.

In 2023, while working a 9-to-5 job, I began building my small business around jewellery and bead embroidery.

Lamoureuse was born from that moment, not as a trend, but as a return to self.

Most of my jewellery features cultured pearls. I’ve always been fascinated by them, their soft glow, their quiet strength, the way something so luminous is formed through time and patience. Pearls feel alive, almost emotional.

They perfectly reflect the spirit of Lamoureuse.

Nature is at the heart of my work, especially the ocean.

The ocean has always been my greatest source of inspiration and comfort. Growing up on an island creates a bond that never fades.

The ocean never makes itself small. It is vast, powerful, and unapologetic.

Many of my pieces carry that energy through fluid shapes, organic textures, and marine tones, along with personal memories and travels woven into every design.

Though I now create in Paris, Mauritius lives in everything I make.

This brand represents more than jewellery.

It is my proof that art is not optional to living, it is essential.

Creative expression should not belong only to the wealthy or exist only in galleries. Art serves human needs, not luxury ones. It connects us. It carries stories, histories, gestures, and traditions.

It is a language we all share.

Through handmade pieces crafted slowly and intentionally, Lamoureuse honours that belief; celebrating emotion, memory, softness, and the value of making something by hand.

Welcome to Lamoureuse.
A world of tenderness, intention, and expression.

Zakiyyah, Founder of Lamoureuse
